The long-awaited release of ARPG Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt RED is getting closer, so new details of the project are constantly appearing.
We’ve already seen how Cyberpunk 2077 looks on a PC with RTX series graphics cards. We’ve seen how the game performs on consoles and what PS5 and Xbox Series X show for backward compatibility. Now it’s time to see how Cyberpunk 2077 works in Google Stadia – a cloud gaming service. However, in many regions, the service is not yet officially available and it is not worth waiting for its launch.
What is Stadia?
Google Stadia is a service for streaming games to any device. For example, at the presentation in March it was shown how you can start a game session on a PC and then continued it on a smartphone or even TV. Google will use the Chrome browser as a software part, i.e. compatibility must be with all modern operating systems.
As Google assures, users of the service will not need very powerful hardware. Google Stadia servers will be responsible for performance. Their main feature of the service is that each user will get a separate unit, which can be called a cloud PC. The block includes a 2.7 GHz processor with an unknown number of cores, HBM2 memory and 10.7 TFLOPS performance, and 16 GB of memory.
Cyberpunk 2077 runs on Stadia
In a video that shows the gameplay of the game on Stadia in 4K resolution, we see that the result is very decent, especially for those who do not have a powerful enough PC or who do not want to play on the previous generation console.
Only those who have subscribed to the premium version of the service will be able to play 4K. But for those who buy the game on Stadia before December 17, Google will send a gift – a premier set of the service, which includes a controller, the Chromecast Ultra, and a Stadia Pro subscription.
Cyberpunk 2077 can also be launched on Android smartphones and tablets or TV boxes if you have a Stadia controller and the Chromecast Ultra.
In addition, today it became known that the cross-save will work. On PS4, players can upload saves to the cloud via PS Plus, or make a copy to an external drive and transfer to PS5. On Xbox One, all you have to do is make a cloud save and use it on your new console. You can also use network transfer if both consoles are connected to the same local network.
Pre-order and release date
As expected by CD Projekt RED, which also released The Witcher series, the total number of Cyberpunk 2077 pre-orders will be “noticeably higher” for any Witcher game. And over 50% of these sales will be digital.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on PC, previous generation consoles (PS 4, Xbox One), and Google Stadia this year on December 10, and on the next-gen consoles (PS 5 and Xbox Series X|S) next year.
