For example, next we will look at the design of the Windows 11 taskbar and the redesigned Start menu. All innovations are related to the acceleration of work with the application, with files and folders, with the introduction of changes to the operation of the system itself. The new system looks like it may appeal to both PC users and users of other devices.

Let’s briefly describe what has changed on the taskbar:

  • The central taskbar is very similar to a similar Mac panel;
  • The new rounded corners of the windows correspond to the modern design trends of many applications;
  • But not everyone will definitely like the Start menu. The application shortcuts are at the top, the files are at the bottom, and the link to see the full Start menu is in the upper right corner.

The Start menu is certainly different from previous versions. No one has used live tiles in Windows 10.

  • Notifications and system shortcuts are now split into two screens.
  • Clicking on the clock shows all notifications and the full calendar.
  • Meanwhile, the system shortcuts are combined into one screen, it appears after clicking on Wi-Fi, sound or battery.
  • On the same screen, there is also control of the Bluetooth module, flight mode, focus assistance. The well-known sliders for controlling the sound and brightness of the screen are also here.

It seems that there are no significant changes here, but in fact, the interaction feels much better, the interface is not overloaded.

Concentration attention and convenience when working on Windows 11

The taskbar in Windows 11 now contains only icons. These changes were coming with Windows 7, but the user always had the opportunity to enable shortcuts for the taskbar. At the moment, this feature does not correspond to the new style of Microsoft, which wants users to be able to spend time more productively.

Windows 11 binding areas

Initially, it may seem that this significant change will affect the mood of some users. But after a week of using it, you may even like it. Also, new changes have affected the window deployment button. Now, when you click on it, you can see the binding areas of application windows. That is, you can make it so that the window is, for example, exactly in the lower right corner, and so on. The types of locations are different.

When using a quick binding of an application to a place, applications that can be launched in other parts of the screen also come out. We move Slack to the upper-right corner, put Edge on the left side, and remove Spotify to the lower-right corner in a few seconds. It sounds complicated, in fact, it allows you to quickly deal with open windows, get rid of unnecessary things, and organize your work. Moreover, the bindings of several applications are saved and they can be opened in the same form next time. This also speeds up the work and such interaction of two applications can be very convenient for many users.

It is also possible to create virtual desktops with the Tab key. You can create different desktops for different operating modes and focus on specific applications and tasks. This is quite consistent with the new direction of productivity at work. In addition, the rapid creation of such a desktop is a separate plus.

New Explorer

Another important addition is the new explorer. It differs from the old one in that it has a toolbar at the top. There you can find the usual commands “Cut”, “Copy”, “Paste”, “Rename”. The graphical representation of some functions can be understood only when actively used. For example, the designation of the “Rename ” function does not at all suggest that this image means exactly this function. This panel is very clean and conveniently replaces the more cluttered previous versions. The new explorer will definitely speed up the work with files and folders in the system, which will please many.

Windows 11 settings

The new settings interface in Windows 11 is quite convenient. On the left there are various general sections, on the right there are specific settings. If there is no exact knowledge of what the desired parameter is called, then it can be found in the search. It is located on the upper left side. Also, a certain section of settings can be found if you use the search throughout the OS. In general, the new settings are created for people who are not very well versed in technologies. Each item has explanations and it is easy to come to each item.

Updated Microsoft Store

The Microsoft Store app has been redesigned. The navigation bar on the left side is better than the section tabs that were there before. This deliberate step forward will definitely please many. The Microsoft Store has become more convenient for quickly searching for applications, it does not have cluttered blocks or shortcuts.

Returning widgets

Widgets are back in Windows 11. They now appear on the left side of the screen, after clicking the corresponding “Widgets” button, which is located on the taskbar. The widgets have a modern design and there you can see information about the weather, notes about upcoming events, upcoming events. This is a good return, but the widgets should still be worked on so that they are more useful.

We are waiting impatiently for Windows 11

In the pre-release version of the operating system, some functions do not work. For example, it is potentially a very convenient opportunity to open Android applications on your computer. There is no way to study the built-in Microsoft Teams chat. AutoHDR, which was created for old games, also does not run on the preview version. In general, all these applications potentially seem to be an excellent solution to specific problems, users are very much waiting for applications with available functionality.

Unfortunately, it is also impossible to test some new functions. Among them, for example, a function for automatically changing the refresh rate during the game or vice versa for less dynamic applications. This feature is only available for special monitors, which are more often in demand by gamers. In fact, we can assume that this function will be really in demand. Of course, a high frequency is good, the movements look smooth. But changing the frequency is necessary if you need to save battery power, so this possibility is very practical and economic.

The preliminary version of Windows 11 made it clear what Microsoft is moving towards, what its goals are. Everything is aimed at minimizing distractions for a favorable atmosphere for work. Interaction becomes more convenient when a large number of unnecessary elements are hidden. At the moment, there are some errors that require restarting the computer. Also, the system requirements for the new OS are still unclear. The work at Microsoft will be long. But Windows 11 does have new features, which justifies the new serial number of the operating system.
